ROAD SAFETY DAY OBSERVED IN KOLKATA

Kolkata, Feb. 10 : The students of ABC School today held here the ‘Road Safety Day’ . A colourful procession with banners and placards  came out of their school at 9 am. The students cried slogans on  road safety in view of the recent increase in road accidents. Many people gathered on either side of the  Road to watch their performance. At 10-00 am the pupils did in a role-playing programme to show how to keep up road safety. Some people  performed as traffic police, some as pedestrians, some cyclists, some rickshaw-pullers, some car drivers and so on. All the rules were shown through the programme. It was nice as well as instructive. It was really ‘the rule of the road’.

       Sub. - Difficulties due to water logging in our locality

Sir,
   Through the columns of your esteemed daily I, a resident of Sarenga, would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to the untold sufferings of the people of our locality due to water-logging in the rainy season.
   In absence of any modern drainage system even a short spell of shower is enough to cause water logging in the area. As most of the drains are clogged with plastics, drains easily overflow and remain stagnant for days. Mosquitoes find a happy breeding-ground in the stagnant water and diseases like Malaria and Dengue are so very common. Residents have to live in an unhygienic condition during the entire rainy season. The school-going children and office-goers have to wade through knee-deep water and passing vehicles often splash dirty water upon the pedestrians. Repeated appeals to the B.D.O. have fallen to the deaf ears.
   Therefore, the government should take some steps to alleviate the suffering of the people of our locality. Thanking you.

Respected Sir,

      Through your popular daily I would like to express my concerns about bad effects of road-side foods on health in our locality that has made the lives of the people living here detrimental.

The roadside  foods are very unhygienic. We can find many food stalls selling cut fruits and junk foods.These type of stalls are mushrooming near the schools and colleges. These junk foods always attract everyone. But they are actually very bad for our health. Sometimes chemical-rich foods and even rotten animal foods  are also given as per news break of Kolkata. These foods are dangerous and poisonous to health. It may cause to permanent impact on stomach,lever and other organs. The problem is increasing day by day.

I would therefore,on behalf of the residents of our locality,request the authorities and policy makers and common people  to leave no stone unturned to create awareness among all on immediate basis without any further delay so that health always stays first  priority above all.
