Ans. Gieve Patel's sarcastic poem 'On Killing a Tree' deals with human cruelty in killing trees. The poet here portrays how matured andfull-grown tree is cut ruthlessly thereby causing problem to our environment. In the poem the poet asserts killing a tree is not an easy job. A quick stab or blow of a knife cannot fell gratity tree. Our purpose roots should be pulled out entirely from the anchoring earth. It thus, points out the destructive nature of human being and man's foolishness towards nature. Man is so foolish that they are actually destroying their own basic and fundamental essence.
